I am wondering is a five pin flasher will work on a Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2002.

The one in it has a nine pin flasher. I am in the process of trouble shooting my turn signals and see a five pin flasher advertised on Amazon, and was wondering if it would work in place of the nine pin one.

I've had issues with my turn signals that ended up being an easy fix. The pins for the Flasher for not making Connection in the sockets simple tweak of the pins to the left or to the right kind of twisting them and reinserting them back into the socket fix this. The flasher relay is actually two separate relays on the inside of that black box One controls your turn signals the other controls your hazards. Another common problem with our WJs are there rear turn signal contacts on the housing become loose.

Thanks,

I'll try that. Because the problem comes and goes, maybe that will work. I still need to gain access to the relay. But, think I can do that ok.

It is a little cold so may wait.

I'll post and let you know how that works out.

Repairs to Flasher relay. 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Removed the flasher relay from my Jeep 2002 Grand Cherokee and performed repairs as recommended by members of this Forum, and some research from Google and YouTube.

I was able to remove the relay without taking the fuse assembly out. After removing the plastic covers, I was able to reach up with a pair of channel locks and a screw driver and snap the relay out.

Then clean the nine contact and soldered the points where the circuit board and pins are attached, as was recommend by Forum Members and demonstration by youtube peeps.

Reinstalled the relay by placing it in the socket and forcing in in with a long screw drive. Tested the turn signals and Hazzard lights and all worked ok.

However, since the problem was intermittent, I don't know if the problems was solved or not. Hopeful that it is. lol

Thanks for the help all. Really appreciated. I will repost results after a few days to inform if repairs were successful.
