A friend just called me and said that a guy came in toda in a 89 xj with a vac disco front end that has been welded up and had a shut off valve in the dash to have it where he can still steer it .I know that this front end isn't all that in the woods and the rocks wouldnt it cause this front end to become more vulneriable to breaking when it gets in a bind .

Yes, anytime you lock an axle together it will become more vulnerable to breaking due to no pressure being able to be released.

The point is so that he can disconnect the axleshaft on the passenger side changing his 'Welded' front back to essentially an 'Open' front.
Very true, I forgot to mention that :D Being that his d30 is a vac he can essentially lock and unlock it as needed.

that is what I was thinking. how does welding the front make acrash. I had a front welded once just because it was alot eazer then fixing the stupid jeep front vac system that has never worked right from the day the started it on the old egale cars. still is pron to not working right. just my 2 cents. anyway its a jeep thing.

Im not very familiar with the d30 front But in the past when you weld a front up you loose a lot of you steering radius
Thats true but it doesnt necessarily mean you are going to be in an accident because of it. I still wouldnt recommend it on a non vac d30.
