There are truly advantages and purpose for being a part of organized four wheel drive.
The Middle Atlantic Four Wheel Drive Association typically has an annual trail ride/camput/Swimming, Fishing, family event in far Western Maryland mid to late summer in one of the nicest areas that you could possibly visit.
As a group, we do some volunteer work. In exchange, we get great P.R. and access to a few routes that are normally closed to four wheel drive vehicles.
While airing down and "Treading Lightly" are requirements, it is far from boring.
No drinking and driving. Group site camping under the trees. Great fun and fellowship. Last year it was 108 degrees in Baltimore and never got above 85 at the campsite!
Let me know if you are interested. I will only share the details one on one.
Keep in mind, this is a sensitive area. Mess it up and it is gone. Some of these routes are closed year around, other than this trip. Visit the Middle Atlantic Four Wheel Drive Association web site for contact information. I am the president of MAFWDA.
