Bought these replacement stock arms when i installed my 3.5" lift. I torqued them to factory specifications. They have only been on for like 1000 miles, all on road. I haven't flexed it at all either:

This was the axle end, passenger side. Ripped up beyond use. Picture doesn't really show the whole tear. It's actually torn all around the metal sleeve and i could punch out the sleeve if i tried.

what could cause that? cheap parts?

What made you look? I've been wanting to get rid of my OEM uppers since the lift kit install. Man those are flimsy things.

I took em off to install rough country's drop brackets. I had my old originals laying around so i installed those back in instead. Lucky i did because the originals were 1/4" shorter and i needed that to correct my caster. Perfect fit but dunno why the new arm tore like that. I did have a pull to the right for some time and it was probably cuz of that. It no longer does it now.

2drx4, it may be a factory defect. I'm not too worried about it. I could contact quadratec but it's like a $20 arm so screw it.

There was like 5 years where Jeep recalled the XJ control arms, there was a problem with soft rub in the bushings causing tears, wobbles and other problems. It was a quiet recall, dealers were only aloud to replace them under recall if some one came in with issues..

When did you torque the bolts? Before or after the vehicle was sitting on the tires?

Even if you torqued them with the axle dropped, they shouldn't have blown out in that short of a time though, so I'm guessing material defect.

Those look like factory arms and are prolly from a dealer overstock or a Crown Replacement part.
They are 1/4" longer than the stock arms my cherokee came with. I dunno if they are actually dealer items or aftermarket-made factory replacements. They are made in Taiwan if that means anything.

But basically they are the same as stock, just a bit longer.
