Buddy of mine loves them, but there more of a status symbol to him. I don't think he'd ever take it offroad. I'd take 2, Jeeps over a rover anyday.

I love the rovers. We had one on a trail ride up in Rochester, Ny one time. That thing kept up with us just fine, and it was stock. Solid axles

Hope you're not planning to tow the XJ like you suggested in the other thread. Okay, the LR is bigger & maybe heavier than the FJ, and it is a V8. A respectable 7700 lbs tow limit, but just because they say you can, doesn't mean you should, LOL. Cons: unibody. Smaller V8 (4.6L? Way too small for my liking). But for ATV's, bikes and the like, it'll do just fine.

But if you're watching funds, isn't this a little expensive to mantain? What's wrong with a less expensive Ford, Chebby or Dodge?

If you want something to with and DD, why not a Tahoe/Yukon or Suburban/Yukon XL.

A guy in my club just got a 2001 Yukon XL 2500, fully loaded for like 5 grand. His wife DD's it and he tows with it when he wheels.

Gas mileage is similar between the Rover and the ones I mentioned. And parts are cheaper if you stay domestic.

Significantly cheaper parts going that route, it would be a night and day difference.
