My heat is now on the defrost default. Only blows at windshield. I have found a small line i think is the vacuum (1/8" thick roughly) and it is severed right near the firewall behind the glove box under the good. How to i get to the other end of that line? Where it goes into the firewall its like a sponge/foam material...and i can't figure out how to get my dash off if i need to....thanks...97 country

It sounds like that you have snapped the HVAC System Vacuum Supply line. I am finishing off a heater core replacement in my 98 ZJ. If there is any way to get it repaired without having to remove the dash, do it. It will be an enormous pain in the arse to replace that line. It is doable, but you will wish you had just fixed it from inside the engine compartment. I do not remember exactly where the vaccum line connects to the HVAC box. I am certain that it comes out in the engine compartment in between the A/C lines from the evaporator. I couldn't find a better diagram of where it connects at all, but here are a couple that I have.

If you get your dash out, a ZJ Country Edition right?, you will be able to get at it easily. The dash removal in a ZJ is not all that difficult. It just takes patience and knowledge of what to do and when. I will post up the service manual procedure in a subsequent post.
