High Pinion Front Axle in a 2000

I may have to replace the front axle in my 2000 and think an earlier 90-99 high pinion axle would be an option. It's a street vehicle with a 1" lift via the up country springs. I've read that a high pinion in this year model should have a 3" lift due to the front drive shaft contacting the exhaust. Is that due to disconnecting the sway links and allowing more suspension flexing? If I keep it a street setup with the sway bar connected would that minimize the possibility of the driveshaft contacting the exhaust? The sway bar is a heavier Addco unit.
I plan on selling it soon and think that a high pinion front axle would make it more attractive to someone.

I don't know of any differences that should matter. As I understand it, the later XJs got leftover low-pinions from wranglers as they were clearing the shelves for the next generation. My 2001 has a high-pinion I put in with no issues. Bolts right in of course. I do have 4" of lift though, so its not stock height.

If you are being cost-conscious, the LP will be cheaper to buy than the more sought-after HPs.

Yes, the supply of HP's is fewer than LP's in the yards. The possibility of contact is probably minimal for a street vehicle with a 1" lift that does not 4 wheel. I was just checking if anybody swapped out axles prior to lifting further.
